Since Robert Clarke crafted the first tinwhistle in Suffolk, England, in 1843, its signature “Chiff” sound—produced by a unique mouthpiece design—has captivated players worldwide, delivering a distinctive, flute-like tone cherished by musicians.

In recent decades, players have asked if a less “breathy” tinwhistle could be developed—one that makes reaching each octave easier while preserving the beloved “Chiff” that defines Clarke’s legacy.

We’re proud to announce that our Nickel and Gold Plated models have been expertly recalibrated to meet this demand. These enhanced instruments offer effortless playability without sacrificing the signature “Chiff” that Clarke is renowned for.

Crafted with precision, the Nickel and Gold Plated models combine superior tonal clarity with the rich resonance of gold or nickel and a refined walnut mouthpiece plug.

Our nickel-plated tinwhistle is durable and resistant to wear. Our tinwhistles often undergo significant handling and contact with various materials – such as clothing, stands and cases – so a durable plating material is essential to maintain the appearance and functionality of the instrument over time.

The box contains one nickel-plated Original tinwhistle (in D or C) and a quality microfibre cleaning cloth, along with a fingering/tuning chart. A beautifully presented tinwhistle in
a desirable finish.
